Solyx iQ Custom window film installation guidelines

Solyx iQ custom manufactured window films are installed with the same methods and tools as you would install a 4mil clear Safety film but with the following precautions:

  1. During installation of the first panel the suitable installation method should be determined.
  2. These films have a printed surface that may be scratched if a plastic hard card us used. The squeegee must have a very smooth, new, edge. Typical window cleaning squeegees must not be used as they are not suitable – We recommend a blue max or similar squeegee.
  3. We recommend that the squeegee be pulled rather than pushed to remove the mounting solution. This way as much pressure as is needed to remove the mounting solution can be applied. Apply as much pressure as possible.
  4. If you see that the ink surface is being scratched on the very first squeegee pass then we recommend that the release liner that has been removed from the back of the film be placed onto the front surface as a protective film during squeegeeing. In this case the mounting solution can be pushed out instead of pulled out and therefore much more pressure can be applied.
  5. It is important to remove as much mounting solution as possible to avoid the possibility of water/mounting solution recollecting behind the film into small drop spots which may take a long time to dry out and may end up becoming air pockets.
  6. Take care with edge trimming to use a new sharp point on the blade so that the ink surface is not damaged. A trimming guide can be very useful for a clean and accurate edge cut.
  7. After installation of the first panel confirm that the design is correct and meets quality standards. Do not proceed with the installation if the first panel is incorrect and the film does not meet the quality standard for its particular design.

Solyx iQ window film cleaning instructions

The following are washing and maintenance instructions for all your SOLYX Glass Finish Films. Post these instructions where employees and/or maintenance personnel can read them since failure to follow them will irrevocably void your warranty.

DO NOT CLEAN UNTIL THIRTY (30) DAYS AFTER THE INSTALLATION DATE.

Recommended cleaner is SimGlas® Window Film Cleaner and microfiber cloth.

DO NOT USE BRISTLE BRUSHES OR ANY OTHER MATERIAL THAT MIGHT SCRATCH THE SURFACE. CAUTION! DO NOT USE AMMONIA OR VINEGAR OR ANY PRODUCTS CONTAINING AMMONIA OR VINEGAR TO CLEAN THE FILM.

Some paper towels are coarse enough to scratch the Film. Repeated use of improper cleaning implements and/or solutions will damage the appearance of the Film.

Solyx iQ general guidelines

DO NOT USE ANY ADHESIVE TAPES, LABELS, OR SIGNAGE ON THE SURFACES TO WHICH THE FILM HAS BEEN APPLIED.

Under reasonable weather conditions, film will dry flat, with no blisters, within 30 days, when viewed under normal viewing conditions. Normal viewing conditions are viewing treated windows from a distance of ten feet from the room side, at angles of up to 45 degrees, looking at a clear or uniformly overcast sky. Since a particle-free application is possible only under sterile conditions, there may be small amounts of dust or grit caught between the film and glass.

Please be advised that there may be a small amount of water left behind, particularly with the thicker films.

Please be patient. Within approximately 60-90 days, this water will diffuse out through the film. However, in the event that you see larger blisters forming within 24 hours after the installation, please call your installation company immediately.
